FAQ
  • What are your charts?
  • These are black and white symbol charts in counted cross stitch technique. The patterns are divided into fragments, each of them is printed in A4 format. Every stitching set is comprised of an initial photo squared according sheets order, a color scheme with numbers of DMC or Madeira and summary of skeins, a black and white symbol chart  and a detailed instruction. You should work with my charts as with an usual chart of counted cross stitch technique. You can e-mail me any question you have.
  • What is different between your charts and those in the shops?
  • I develop my charts on my own without any special stitching program. Wide experience and art education allow me to gain unusual effect: stitch becomes alive. It is not simply cartoons or reductive pictures it is work of art.  I don’t reduce colors a lot so that the picture wouldn’t loose quality. As a result your works will be full of details, half-tints and nuances.
  • I am beginner at stitching. Can I master the chart? Wouldn’t it be better to start with something easier?
  • I believe and my experience approve it that any (I emphasize any) of my charts can be mastered by any  person having some spare time and  burning with the desire to stitch. And that is all. Instructions will help you in the process of stitching and you will not have any special difficulties. It wouldn’t be worth spending time and forces for pilot balloons. I suggest that you should start with small projects, for example, “Wood dweller” or “A thoughtful mouse” or any of curtain holders. It will be more successful.
  • May I take any kind of threads or change canvas?
  • I insist that you should definitely follow the noticed color scheme in order to avoid making mistakes and getting discrepancy.  If DMC floss is required, do not replace it by Madeira. If you find in the shop a resembling but not mentioned in the instruction tint – don’t be lazy, find the needed one.  A very amazing and long process of creation of the picture is waiting for you. Provide yourself with needed materials. What about canvas, there are no such strong requirements.  You can take not only Aida 14 but also other kinds of canvas.  But, please, note that too large canvas will result in rough work while too fine canvas will be difficult to work with. Don’t forget to re-count your pattern size when changing canvas dimension.
  • How long does it take to stitch a picture? What would you advise to speed up the process?
  • The larger and more difficult the pattern – the longer the process. And again, a great deal depends on the time you spend for stitching. Some people work once a week, others work every day. For example I can say that a pattern (60×80) can be accomplished in 6-7 months if one works every day using cross stitching and in 2-5 months with half cross stitching.  To speed up the process I advise to follow instructions, to pay attention to the smallest things and not to work being tired. Stitching must be pleasure. Do not force yourself and don’t compel yourself to finish the work by the date fixed.  Provide yourself with a comfortable work place: an embroidery frame, additional light, a good needle, a comfortable armchair or chair. Don’t forget to do exercises every hour, compliment yourself for every fragment, boast before your friends, get their encouragement and admiration.  And of course stitch in half cross instead to get result in the shortest possible time.  You will notice no difference when looking at the picture at a distance of 30cm.
  • Can I buy one of your finished pictures, shown on the site? And how can I do this?
  • Yes, you can buy or purchase a finished picture.  Just send me e-mail: order@stitch-cross.com
